Day trip from Prague to Terezin
- Reviews (0)
Terezin is a military fortress supposed to be used for defense but became a prison and later during the World War Two was a Jewish ghetto and concentration camp. Also, here you can visit the Terezin Monument dedicated to the victims of the Holocaust.
The Terezin monument includes a whole complex of buildings spreading out on both sides of the river Ohra. Its main parts consist of the Small and Big Fortress. You can walk past the former accommodation quarters, the chapel in the Magdeburg barracks, the Columbarium with its ceremonial rooms and the Ghetto Museum.
During a tour, you’ll see a lot of literary, artistic, musical and theatrical works by the prisoners. The four sisters of Sigmund Freud, the philologist professor Elise Richter, the poet Walter Lindenbaum and many others were imprisoned here. In this place, you can hear, feel and commemorate the sad stories of those who were imprisoned here.
